Outflow 295.2 million

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to preliminary statistics of the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), the total inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) amounted to €545.7 million in the first eight months, while the outflow totalled €295.2 million.

According to the latest CBCG Bulletin, net foreign direct investments, i.e. the difference between their inflow and outflow, amounted to €250.6 million at the end of August, down 11.9 percent year-on-year.

“This trend is a result of a considerably higher outflow based on the repayment of intercompany debt compared with the same period last year, as well as the withdrawal of investments by a large company,” the Bulletin says.

The residents’ investments abroad amounted to €40.3 million, while the withdrawal of money invested in Montenegro by non-residents amounted to €254.9 million.

The FDI inflow related to ownership investments amounted to €334.4 million, which accounts for 61.3 percent of the total inflow. Of that amount, the inflow based on the real estate investments amounted to €117.1 million, while the investments in companies and banks amounted to €217.3 million.

The inflow in the form of intercompany debt amounted to €198.1 million in the first eight months, while the withdrawal of investments by residents from abroad amounted to €13.2 million.
