Podgorica, (MINA) – Chapter 27 on Environment is exceptionally demanding and complex and it requires the development of adequate infrastructure and waste management centers, President of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Montenegro Katarina Bulatovic has stated.
“Chapter 27 is exceptionally demanding, because the implementation of the EU laws also requires significant financial means, which affects both the economy and the citizens,” Bulatovic told Mina.
According to her, successful implementation of policies requires, first and foremost, development of adequate infrastructure and waste management centers, in order to put into practice a sustainable model of waste management.
“Once we amend the legislation and bring it in line with the requirements of technologies and the market, we will create conditions for a stable and sustainable environmental policy,” Bulatovic noted.
She recalled that in December 2015 the European Commission adopted the so-called Circular Economy Package, a document that clearly defines measures for transition from a linear into a circular economy.
“That implies a change of production process, including product design, the way it is made available to consumers and recycling, so that the product can go back into the production process,’ Bulatovic added.
Circular economy, she explained, represents a set of measures that are intended for products, materials and resources to stay in the economy as long as possible, with minimum waste created.
The AmCham president argues that the Montenegrin business community and citizens should be introduced to the requirements of a circular economy, in order to prepare in time for the implementation of those measures.
