Parliamentary working body to be set up by end of October

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Parliament is expected to set up a working group for election legislation reform by the end of October, Parliament Speaker Ivan Brajovic has announced, adding that most parties prefer it to be an interim parliamentary committee.

Brajovic told the press that he would collect additional suggestions, positions and opinions from all the participants in the College.

“Then the College will sum up all the impressions and set up an operational group which will draft a decision that will be considered by the College and proposed to the Parliament by the end of the month,” the Speaker explained.

He voiced hope that the working group will include all political stakeholders.

Asked if the College discussed the proposal put forward by the Democrats and URA on Wednesday, Brajovic said that the College will not focus on the authorship of different proposals, adding that it is in everyone’s interest for the Parliament to make the best decision possible.

“I have received their proposal. Unfortunately, I first read about it in the news portals and only then did I receive it in the Parliament. That is not a good gesture, it is not responsible behavior. All that noise and stipulations are telling me that they are avoiding to face their fellow MPs,” Brajovic said.

According to him, representatives of URA and the Democrats are always welcome to join the working group and return to the Parliament.
