Podgorica (MINA-BUSINESS) – Prime Minster Dusko Markovic has said that the proposed amendments to this year’s budget law do not envisage any new debts, which would increase Montenegro’s public debt in the years to come.
“On the contrary, they include carefully planned measures aimed at repaying the public debt by refinancing part of the mature principal under favourable conditions,” Markovic said at the Parliament answering the question of Rasko Konjevic, MP of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Konjevic wanted to know how the borrowing of €500 million envisaged by the budget review would affect the total public debt, which had exceeded 3.1 billion.
He said that every citizens of Montenegro would owe €1,000 more after the adoption of the budget review.
Markovic said that Montenegro had improved its position on the international financial markets.
