Podgorica, (MINA) – This year has been successful both at home and abroad, Prime Minister Dusko Markovic has stated, adding that Montenegro has proved itself as a credible NATO member and has managed to maintain good pace of EU accession talks.
Speaking at the traditional New Year’s reception, Markovic said that 2018 has been a year of Montenegro’s strong international promotion, dynamic economic development and stabilization of general political and social circumstances.
“As NATO’s new fully-fledged member, we have proved capable of taking responsibility and contributing, together with our partners, to the values of the Alliance, to peace and stability,” Markovic stated.
According to the Prime Minister, Montenegro has been transferring its experience to the other countries in the process of Euro-Atlantic and European integration, helping them to overcome even the most complex of challenges.
“When it comes to internal political and social circumstances, I must say that all of us together could have done more to strengthen dialogue and achieve a higher level of social cohesion and dialogue, which does not mean unanimity, but a dialogue that helps us to better understand our differences,” the Prime Minister noted.
Accordingly, he announced, the government will do everything in its power to make sure that next year is marked by general social dialogue, but not one about the state and its identity.
“We will encourage dialogue with everyone, even with those who deny that identity. The time has come to find answers to the divisions of the past,” Markovic stated.
