Confindustria expected to boost economic cooperation

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – It was concluded at today’s presentation of Confindustria Montenegro that this business association would promote the arrival of small and medium-sized companies from Italy, encourage the Montenegrin companies interested in entering the Italian market, and boost the cooperation among institutions involved in the promotion of economic development.

Ambassador of Italy to Montenegro, Luca Zelioli has said that the establishment of Confindustria is a large step towards an important goal of creating conditions for the full development of trade and investments.

“I am particularly thankful to the Italian companies that have worked hard towards achieving this important result, through transformation of Assiimont, which was their former and simpler association in Montenegro,” Zelioli said at the opening of Confindustria.

Confindustria was formally launched with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) and Confindustria.

President of Confindustria Montenegro, Erich Cossutta, said that with a record export of €168.5 million Italy had set last year, the entrepreneurs from this country met all preconditions to contribute to further economic growth of Montenegro.

He added that, same as in other countries, Confindustria would try to bring its knowhow and entrepreneurial spirit to Montenegro.

Cossutta reminded that this association, which had been established in 1910, represented 150,00 companies with a total of 6 million workers.

Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulic expressed her expectation that Confindustria would contribute to the improvement of Montenegro’s manufacturing and processing capacities to the mutual benefit of all stakeholders involved.

“Italian companies bring new technologies and higher standards,” said Sekulic.

She said that Confindustria was expected to contribute to the improvement of business climate and promote public and friendly dialogue with the Montenegrin Government and relevant ministries.

The PKCG President Vlastimir Golubovic said that, through business meetings and promotion of joint interests, the cooperation with Confindustria would increase the scope of business activities in the coming period.

“We expect a greater involvement of Italian companies in the implementation of major infrastructure projects in Montenegro,” he said, adding that he expected to see the cooperation with Italian entrepreneurs, particularly in the field of energy, food and timber industry, information technologies, waste management, recycling, and wastewater treatment.
