Podgorica, (MINA) – The European Union has an opportunity to show, on the example of Montenegro, that the enlargement policy is alive, Prime Minister Dusko Markovic has stated.
Markovic met on Monday with Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva, as part of her official visit to Montenegro.
“Both sides noted that the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries are good and substantial, which has been confirmed by the fact that nine top-level state visits have been exchanged in the past two years,” a government press release said.
The meeting reportedly noted that additional efforts are needed to boost economic cooperation, especially in the areas of tourism, agriculture and energy.
Referring to European integration, Markovic expressed his appreciation for Bulgaria’s continued support to Montenegro and the whole region.
The PM remarked that the EU-Western Balkans Summit which took place in Sofia during the Bulgarian EU Presidency was a historic event.
“The European Union now has an opportunity to show, on the example of Montenegro, that the enlargement policy is alive,” Markovic said.
