Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy Milan Srzentic has said that the regional agreement on reduction of roaming charges, which will come into effect today, will allow the citizens to pay considerably lower prices for these services.
He said that the agreement, signed in Belgrade in April by the line ministers of Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo, would result in benefits in terms of additional cost reduction, and territorial extension of its scope.
Srzentic reminded that a roaming cost reduction agreement had been in effect in four Western Balkan countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, since 2015, adding that Albania and Kosovo now joined this group of countries.
“The citizens will be paying much lower costs than it has been the case so far. According to our calculations, the prices of outgoing voice calls will be lower by 50 percent on average compared with the prices currently paid in these countries,” Srzentic told Mina-business agency.
According to him the SMS costs will decrease by 40 – 50 percent, while the ones of internet data transfer will be lower by as much as nearly 90 percent.
The agreement envisages a gradual reduction of prices of roaming services starting from tomorrow and complete cancellation all roaming charges by 2021.
