Beograd, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The line ministers of Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo have signed an agreement for reduction of roaming costs, which envisages that the roaming charges will be phased out until 2021.
The agreement, whose implementation will start on 1 July, was signed at the Western Balkans Digital Summit in Belgrade.
It was concluded at the Summit that the fact that there will be no roaming charges for the citizens of this region after 2021 was of great importance for both citizens and companies.
Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulic, who signed the agreement on behalf of Montenegro, said that each of the Western Balkan countries will regulate the roaming prices.
European Commissioner for Digital Society and Economy Mariya Gabriel said that the agreement was a result on joint efforts of all stakeholders, aimed at ensuring benefits for the citizens.
“We have cooperated to ensure the progress in the implementation of the digital agenda for the Western Balkans,” said Gabriel.
She said that the agreement was a demonstration of strong political commitment.
