Operators instructed to lower roaming charges

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Service (EKIP) has instructed Crnogorski Telekom, Telenor and M:tel to lower their roaming charges as of 1 July.

According to a decision the regulatory authority adopted on 6 June, the roaming charges will be decreased in line with the Agreement for Reduction of Roaming Charges in the Public Mobile Communications Networks in the Western Balkan Countries.

The agreement was signed in Belgrade on 4 April by the ministries in charge of electronic communications of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo.

“The Agreement envisages that, after 1 July, the roaming services in the countries that entered the agreement will be charged as if a roaming user is in their home country, according to the so-called roam like at home (RLAH) principle,” says a press release issued by EKIP.

As of 1 July, when using the roaming services in the countries that entered the agreement, the users from Montenegro will be no more than 8.16 per minute excluding value added tax for the outgoing calls to the networks in Montenegro, and four cents for the incoming calls from the region. The text messages sent to the networks in Montenegro will cost 3.5 cents, while the data services will be charged no more than 2.62 cents per MB.Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
