Montenegro protects itself and others with responsible approach

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro is a responsible country, consistent in meeting its obligations, since in that way it protects, not only itself, but also others, Minister of Interior Affairs (MUP) Mevludin Nuhodzic has said.

Speaking at the conference “European values, rule of law and security” in Vienna, he said that nothing should be more important than what directly affects security of the countries and their citizens.

Nuhodzic believes that cooperation, promotion of European values and strengthening of legal security are the only guarantees of safety that will not be threatened by challenges, such as organized crime, cyber attacks, illegal migrations, terrorism and violent extremism.

He remarked that Montenegro has recognized the EU accession process as the best way to secure that goal and that, therefore, it pays significant attention to strengthening the rule of law as the best prevention of instability.

According to Nuhodzic, global security challenges require a united response in tackling them.

“In order to stop trafficking in human beings, drugs or weapons, or potential terrorists, we need to act together. The answer to these challenges can only be found in the cooperation between the countries”, Nuhodzic said in the conference, hosted by the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

He remarked that challenges are such that if only one link fails “it then becomes not only the problem of one country, but a much broader issue”.

Nuhodzic said that Montenegro was, above all, a responsible country, consistent in meeting its obligations.
