Montenegro committed to regional cooperation

Budva, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, has said that Montenegro remains fully committed to regional cooperation and economic integration, adding that it continues to introduce European standards, firmly believing in the shared interests and promotion of the common values.

“On this path, we will try to use our success to defend ourselves from those who would like to see Montenegro go centuries back into the past. In that process, we count on unequivocal and continuous support of the EU,” Djukanovic said at the economic conference Montenegro 2018.

At the conference focusing on the Balkans and the European Union in the context of a five-year cycle of the Berlin Process, organized by the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG), he said that it was of great importance to continue with structural reforms and strengthen competitiveness of the region.

“There has been progress, which is evident from the fact that Montenegro’s ranking improved by two places in the recent report by the World Economic Forum. The progress was also made by Serbia and Albania, but that is not enough,” said Djukanovic.

He believes that it is necessary for everybody to work more and faster on boosting competitiveness, adding that European integration and the Berlin Process, played a very important role in that respect.
