Podgorica, (MINA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Srdjan Darmanovic has congratulated his Macedonian counterpart Nikola Dimitrov on the signing of the NATO Accession Protocol, arguing that it is an important step forward towards Macedonia’s NATO membership.
According to a press release from the MFA, Darmanovic underlined the historic importance of the solution to the decades-long bilateral issue with Greece, which has been of vital importance for Macedonia’s progress towards NATO and EU membership.
He welcomed the readiness of the Macedonian Government to take bold steps towards the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic future, while showing a strong commitment to common democratic values.
“Today’s signing of the Protocol is a clear sign that NATO’s door remains open for all the aspirants, which together with you can count on Montenegro’s full support,” Darmanovic said.
