High time for opposition to take responsibility, SNP argue

Podgorica, (MINA) – It is high time for the opposition to overcome individual interests and finally reach an agreement on a joint action, but also to take responsibility for solving the outstanding issues in the interest of Montenegrin citizens, the Socialist People’s Party (SNP) have stated.

SNP Vice President Danijela Djurovic argues that Montenegro has never been in a deeper institutional crisis.

“The Prosecution Office is conducting investigations selectively, the Anti-Corruption Agency is turning a blind eye to obvious political corruption and wrongdoings and the Parliament, as the highest authority, is fully captured by a single political party,” Djurovic noted.

According to her, it is clear that Knezevic could not have confronted DPS leader Milo Djukanovic without some kind of support outside Montenegro.

It is highly possible, Djurovic says, that Knezevic is simply an instrument of geopolitical interests, which see the possibility of disposing of the burden of the 1990s and the people who personify that politics.

“Although for many years Djukanovic has enjoyed the reputation of ‘the factor of stability in the region’, where the international community was not concerned with Montenegro’s internal problems and simply followed its own interests, while Djukanovic used to be the most desirable interlocutor and assistant in serving those interests, he now becomes a burden that needs to be disposed of,” Djurovic claims.
