Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Government officials have said that no extra-institutional interference with the economic citizenship programme will be allowed, adding that the process will be carried out in a transparent manner by the public institutions.
The Government’s Public Relations Service reacted to what it called false allegations and unauthorized action of individuals and companies, concerning the Government’s plans to launch the economic citizenship programme.
The Government says in a press release that the process will be transparent and carried out through the institutions.
“A team of Government’s experts is preparing normative and procedural preconditions for the launching of the investors’ citizenship programme,” the press release says.
According to the press release, the programme is expected to contribute to the development and to boost the economy and infrastructure.
The Government says that it has not hired any external experts in this phase of programme preparation.
According to the Government, the programme will be open over a period limited to three years to no more than 2,000 applicants from non-EU countries with the best references.
The interested applicants will have an option to invest €250,000 in the development projects implemented in an underdeveloped region, or €450,000 in the projects implemented in a developed region of Montenegro, which have previously been approved by the Government.
In addition, the Government will charge up to €100,000 per application, which will be allocated to a separate fund for underdeveloped regions.
