Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Jurgen Rigterink, has said that the Bank was ready to support Montenegro in different fields: improving private sector competitiveness, energy and infrastructure integration and greening the economy.
At a meeting with Prime Minister of Montenegro Dusko Markovic, he said that the EBRD would stand by Montenegro and provide its support to the country.
Rigterink praised the results in the field of economic policy, saying that the international market reactions are the best indicators of the progress, referring in particular to the last year’s successful eurobond issue.
Markovic said that the EBRD had recognized Montenegro’s priorities, which allowed for further productive partnership with the Bank.
He reminded that Montenegro had successfully pursued economic policy in the past two years, achieved dynamic economic growth, stabilised public finances and reduced the unemployment rate.
Markovic underlined that the budget deficit had decreased, while the collection of public revenues had been good in the previous years.
