Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Government and the Capital City have invested more than €100 million in the infrastructure projects over the last three years, said the Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, adding that another €200 million would be invested in the coming period.
Visiting the constructed section of the new Podgorica-Golubovci road, financed by the Government and the Capital City, he said that this project had improved the major infrastructure communications in Podgorica, which would continue to expand its overall development capacities.
“We have also provided better living conditions for the citizens of Golubovci. It will take only ten minutes to get to the city centre from here. It will be easier for people to reach their homes and farms,” said Markovic, adding that the infrastructure development policy was citizen-oriented.
According to a press release issued by the Government’s Public Relations Service, he said that the infrastructure development was aimed at improving the living conditions, boosting the economy, creating jobs and helping the citizens lead more comfortable and pleasant lives.
The Mayor of the Capital City, Ivan Vukovic, thanked the Government for its support to the infrastructure projects, saying that he would keep the promise he had made during the election campaign that Podgorica would have had modern roads accessing the city from all directions by the end of his term of office.
“After today’s opening of this section, we are one step closer to this goal, and we will not stop there. Podgorica is currently a big construction site,” said Vukovic.
Construction of this 2.6 kilometre-long section between the roundabout near the Airport and the beginning of a bypass around Golubovci, which cost €4.7 million, started in January.
