DPS ready to discuss constitutional amendments

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Democratic Party of Socialist (DPS) is ready to discuss amendments to the Constitution, if an agreement is reached on changes to certain aspects of the election legislation and the improvement of the election environment, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and DPS MP Branimir Gvozdenovic has stated.

The Parliament College agreed, at a meeting on Tuesday, that an Interim Committee should be set up by end of October to deal with the election legislation reform.

In an interview with Mina, Gvozdenovic stated that the DPS is approaching this process with a serious intention of building a consensus around all key issues.

Asked about his party’s position in relation to the DF’s request to put forward constitution amendments as topics for discussion before the Committee, he said that DPS are ready for that as well, if an agreement is reached on changes to certain aspects of the election legislation and the improvement of the election environment that entails changes to the Constitution.

Gvozdenovic noted that all parties should realize that without the DPS there can be no two-thirds majority for the required legislative amendments.
