Corruption rate in healthcare sector below three per cent

Podgorica, (MINA) – The corruption rate in the Montenegrin healthcare sector does not go beyond two or three per cent, Minister of Health Kenan Hrapovic has stated, arguing that a single guilty sentence for corruption would encourage many to tackle this problem.

Minister Hrapovic spoke at the Parliament on Monday, responding to a question by DF MP Vera Bulatovic about the state of corruption in the healthcare sector.

He said that not a single report of corruption was presented to the Health Ministry in the past three years.

“I am positive that only one charge of corruption resulting in a guilty sentence would be a trigger that would encourage many to deal with this phenomenon once and for all,” the Minister stressed.

The Minister said that, regardless of the high level of perception of corruption, unofficial assessment by some reputable public opinion researchers suggest that the actual corruption rate does not exceed two or three per cent.
