Podgorica, (MINA) – International judicial cooperation is critical for the fight against organized crime, it was heard at a conference organized in Podgorica on Wednesday by the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM).
The conference entitled ‘Regional Judicial Cooperation: Achievements and Future Perspectives’ was organized as part of the project of Strengthening Regional Judicial Cooperation through Multi-Sectoral Approach.
Addressing the event, Supreme Court President Vesna Medenica stated that judicial cooperation is a critical element in the fight against organized crime.
“As a complex area and a matter of very specific expertise, it requires the knowledge of national, European and international standards and often the knowledge of foreign languages and good communication skills,” Medenica explained.
According to her, having in mind that a training program with the Euro 2 project was adopted in April, Montenegro has taken a major step forward in advancing the competences of judges and their associates in this area.
CEDEM Director Milena Besic stated that the project of Strengthening the Regional Judicial Cooperation through Multi-Sectoral Approach was supported by the Konrad Adenauer Sifting through the rule of law program for South East Europe.
