Constitution should serve new needs and address new challenges

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro has a good constitution, but as a projection of the future of the country, it should be able to serve new needs and address the challenges that could not be recognized 11 years ago, it was heard at the meeting of the Constitutional Committee on Monday.

Addressing the meeting, which marked 11th anniversary of the declaration of the Montenegrin Constitution, Committee Chair Miodrag Vukovic stated that today Montenegro is recognized internationally as a democratic, mature and respected country.

“This is all thanks to the correct constitutional approach from 2007 and the hard work of all relevant stakeholders to put those provisions as soon as possible into the political, economic and social reality,” Vukovic noted.

Parliament Speaker Ivan Brajovic stated that the Constitution of 2007 was a symbol and a reflection of the modern European Montenegro.

“That constitution is a symbol of our lasting commitment to progress and to modern democratic societies, and a legal confirmation of the shared life in the civic Montenegro,” Brajovic stated,” Brajovic said.
