Committee’s work dubbed pointless without technical government

Podgorica, (MINA) – The work of the Electoral Legislation Reform Committee is pointless without technical government, which would control what this parliamentary body would pass, said independent MP Aleksandar Damjanovic, adding that it should be elected by the end of the regular spring session at the latest.

He noted that it is very important that the opposition MPs participate in the work of the plenary session and thus can affirm the goals and requests from the civic protest.

Damjanovic told Mina that he is accountable towards the citizens who elected him to the parliament to represent them, criticize the government and, with other colleagues, ‘reveal double-dealings of those in power which would stay hidden if the opposition did not participate in the plenary work’.

He assessed as good that a number of his colleagues returned to the parliament.

“The function of the parliament as a legislative organ is completely degraded and we only have left the parliament hall and plenary sessions to use for sending messages to the citizens and inform them how far it has gone with degrading of the institutions by the ruling majority”, said Damjanovic.

Commenting on the work of the Committee for reform of further electoral and other legislation, Damjanovic said that the way in which it works is not good and that he was the only one to request defining that the technical government will control those processes.

He believes that elections should be organized next year at all levels, parliamentary, presidential and local.

Damjanovic claims that elections are pointless under the existing circumstances and that, if they miss to do what is necessary, the electoral process will be jeopardized and boycott will be imminent.

He called on the government to be responsible and face the protests, with the signed Agreement and its deadlines, in order to start dialogue which would ease, as he said, currently very problematic political ambience.
