Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro has successfully completed the NATO integration phase, attaining all its goals and will in the future maintain its declared capabilities independently, said Defence Minister Predrag Boskovic.
At the cabinet’s session held on Thursday, the government adopted the Information on Montenegro’s integration into NATO and the Declaration on the completion of that process.
Boskovic said that the declaration will be signed in Podgorica on 23 July and that Montenegro is thus completing one very important chapter.
“We are proud to say that Montenegro achieved a great success, since it completed the integration process in a very short time”, Boskovic told the press conference.
The integration phase, he added, has lasted since 5 June 2017, when Montenegro joined NATO.
Boskovic explained that the integration had seven steps and that every of them demanded significant efforts and commitment.
According to him, those seven steps have been related to administration and aligning of the legal regulation, equipping the armed forces, military trainings and exercises, integration of the system of counter-air defence into NATO integrated system, communication system, and the cyber defence.
