Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Montenegro and the Municipality of Bar have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at developing the green economy on the territory of this city.
The memorandum was signed on the second day on the international conference “Green Days 2019: Unlocking Green Growth Potential” held at the hotel Hilton.
“The smart city concept is part of the new solutions implying the introduction of the energy efficiency concept in the public buildings and development of infrastructure for e-mobility, which should be powered from the renewable energy sources,” says a press release issued by the UNDP.
The memorandum was signed by the UNDP Resident Representative to Montenegro Daniela Gasparikova and Mayor of Bar Dusan Raicevic.
“The memorandum of understanding with the Municipality of Bar proves the interest and readiness of the Montenegrin municipalities to develop the green economy concept at the local level,” said Gasparikova.
According to her, the UNDP supports local administrations all over the region in their efforts to develop and improve the mechanisms ensuring responsible governance, sustainable environmental protection, social inclusion and health and prosperity of their citizens.
Raicevic said that the UNDP would provide technical support to the Municipality of Bar in creating the best possible conditions for the development of green investments and initiatives.
