Podgorica, (MINA) – The decision by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ASK) that the DPS has violated the Law on Financing of Political Parties and Election Campaigns proves that institutions in Montenegro are functioning and that the law is applied equally to everyone, DPS official Milutin Simovic has stated.
Asked by the press if the DPS victory in the 2016 elections was lawful, considering the party’s wrongdoings discovered by the ASK, he replied that the ruling party’s victory is ‘lawful and legitimate’.
“The DPS victory in the latest and previous elections reflected the democratic will of Montenegrin citizens. There is no question about it,” Simovic stated.
Asked if Slavoljub Stijepovic would be punished for not reporting the €47,000 donation to the party, Simovic replied that relevant institutions would answer that question.
“I can’t speak about the specific case of colleague Stijepovic, all I can see is that some people would like to introduce some kind of court martial in Montenegro, regardless of what law is concerned. Institutions will provide an answer to that question and I don’t wish to prejudge anything,” Simovic said.
