Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, Montenegrin tourism is in full swing, while the Government is committed to making sure that this industry gives full contribution to the wellbeing of citizens and the economy.
Answering the PMs’ questions, he said at the Parliament that Montenegro was no longer a destination with 30 to 45 day-long tourist season.
“Montenegro does not rely on high season between 15 July and 15 August, but has the tourist season that lasts nearly nine months,” Markovic said, answering the question of Milos Nikolic, MP of the Democratic Party of Socialists.
He said that the informal economy was present in that field, but the Government was addressing that challenge.
“We are more efficient in combating the informal economy, and we have better results in registration of guests,” said Markovic.
According to him, there can be no high-end tourists without the hotels that meet the highest international standards and without adequate infrastructural connections.
“The success does not just happen. It is based on the Government’s hard work aimed at raising the infrastructure and accommodation capacities to a satisfactory level that will meet the high criteria of outbound markets,” said Markovic.
