Bankruptcy proceedings launched

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Governor of the Central Bank (CBCG) Radoje Zugic has said that the CBCG Council of the Central Bank decided to launch bankruptcy proceedings for Atlas Bank, owned by businessman Dusko Knezevic.

He said at a press conference that interim administrator of Atlas Bank Tanja Teric had found hidden flaws related to this financial company.

“They include unrealistically high valuation of its assets, which resulted in a loss of around €8 million,” said Zugic.

He added that Teric had done a good job in terms of procedures as well.

Early this week, Teric said that there had been no applicants for the second round of the Atlas Bank’s capital increase worth €22 million. The call was launched on 7 March, after the previous one, launched for the bank’s shareholders only, had been unsuccessful.

In early January, the CBCG Council launched bankruptcy proceedings for Invest banka Montenegro (IBM), also owned by Dusko Knezevic.
