Nordic Council can be a good example for Montenegro

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Nordic Council is an example of good, peaceful and democratic cooperation and Montenegro can learn a lot from those experiences and adopt good practices, parliament speakers of Montenegro and Iceland Ivan Brajovic and Steingrimur Sigfusson said.

Brajovic said that in the meeting with Sigfusson he stated that Montenegro is devoted to regional cooperation.

“I pointed out that the Nordic Council, the member of which is Iceland, is a great example of regional cooperation and I think that the countries of the Western Balkans can learn a lot from those experiences, and adopt all good practices”, Brajovic told the press conference.

He believes that normative legal basis between two countries must be strengthened and that there is a lot of space for cooperation.

Sigfusson said that Iceland and Montenegro do not have a lot in common, but that, although small countries, they can have important role.

According to him, all small countries in the world have common traits, depend of international conventions and rule of law, and it is important that the conflicts are solved peacefully, in democratic manner and without the use of force.

He said that he and Brajovic discussed tourism, which is an important branch of economy for both countries, and added that the Nordic Council can be a good example for Montenegro.
