Adoption of new law unnecessary

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Montenegro Business Alliance believes that it is not necessary to adopt a new Law on Fiscalization in the Trade in Products and Services and that it would be more efficient and effective to amend the existing Decree on Cash Registers.

“Introduction of a new fiscalization system cannot guarantee that the informal economy will slow down. It is not possible to tackle the informal economy effectively without field controls,” the MBA says in a press release.

The MBA reminds that the Law on Fiscalization in the Trade in Products and Services, which has been subject to public consultations since September, offers a new legislative framework for introduction of an online fiscalization system.

After the adoption of this piece of legislation, it will supersede the Decree on Cash Registers.

“Potential amendments to the Decree on Cash Registers could contribute to substantial improvements in the registration of turnover and considerable reduction of informal economy in the retail sector,” the MBA says.
