Women to be more involved in security system

Podgorica, (MINA) – Women are not inclined to make decisions that lead conflicts, which is why they should be more involved in the security system, said Chief of Police Veselin Veljovic.

Speaking at the opening of the World Conference of Women in the Security Sector, Veljovic said that the Montenegrin police have been carrying out specialized training courses, both individually and in cooperation with international partners.

“Gender equality in the security sector represents one of fundamental values of the European Union and NATO”, said Veljovic.

He believes that great progress was achieved in Montenegro when it comes to raising awareness on the importance of gender equality, in legal and cultural terms.

Veljovic said that gender equality contributes to and is a fundamental condition of fairness, equality and responsibility towards citizens worldwide, and thus it is important for further development of Montenegro.
