Podgorica, (MINA) – Support for Montenegro’s quicker progress in the EU accession process is investment in a safer and more prosperous region and a more competitive Europe, Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Pazin said during his meeting with European Commission officials.
Ahead of a conference on the position of Jews in Europe, which was hosted by Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Pazin met with European commissioners for enlaragement and justice Johannes Hahn and Vera Jourova.
According to a government press release, the DPM underlined that the results made in the field of the rule of law and the reforms in numerous sectoral policies indicate Montenegro’s internal readiness to make quicker progress in the EU accession talks.
“He underlined that Montenegro’s progress towards EU membership is building into the Montenegrin legal more solid guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for our citizens, sending a clear message to others in the region that European integration is the road to security and prosperity,” the press release stated.
During a meeting with Pazin on the sidelines of the Conference, Kurz is said to have welcomed Montenegro’s progress towards EU membership and underlined its constructive role in preserving and promoting the region of the Western Balkans.
