Budva, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Kemal Purisic, has said that Montenegro needs structural reforms allowing the labour market to function efficiently and adapt to the fast-changing global environment, adding that it is necessary to take into consideration the social aspect of this issue.
“This social aspect includes equal opportunities, fair conditions, social protection and inclusion,” Purisic said at the regional conference “Labour Market Reform in the Western Balkans and Turkey,” held in Budva.
Purisic said that the labour market and social policy reforms were of utmost importance, both in terms of creating conditions for growth and sustainability of any national economy and from the aspect of each family and individual.
He said that the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare had previously launched a comprehensive reform of the labour market and social policy, adding that it was not a simple task as there were many challenges the Ministry was trying to overcome in the best way.
The Head of Cooperation Section at the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, Hermann Spitz, said that all governments of the EU member states had faced great challenges in the process of adoption of all recommendations for the improvement of situation in terms of employment of their citizens.
According to him, the main questions in that respect are related to what can be done for to improve competitiveness of the labour market, ensure equal pays for equal work, reduce poverty, and ensure fiscal stability.
“The governments are committed to dealing with these issues and they recognize themselves in many policies that have been adopted,” said Spitz.
The Head of the International Affairs Unit at the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs of the European Commission, Lluis Prats, said that it was very important for everybody to support each other in order to bridge the large gap between the candidate countries ad EU member states.
“We believe that it is very important to give an impetus to the labour market reforms, in order to make sure that the countries join our Union safely and as soon as possible,” said Prats.
