Sixty-three percent more tourists in March

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the official statistics, there were a total of 56,220 tourists staying in the collective accommodation in March, 62.8 percent more than in the same period of 2018.

In this period, they spent 98,660 nights in Montenegro, up 29.4 percent year over year.

“Out of the total number of nights spent in the collective accommodation, foreign tourists accounted for 77.3 percent and local ones for 22.7 percent,” says a press release.

Compared with the same period last year, the number of tourist arrivals and overnights increased by 44.1 percent and 22.5 percent respectively in the first two months.

The tourists from Germany spent the most nights in Montenegro, 14.8 percent of the total number, followed by those from Serbia with 12 percent, Russia with 8.7 percent, Albania with 8.1 percent, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 4.5 percent, Sweden with 4.4 percent, and China and Croatia with 4.1 percent each.

The tourists from other countries spent the remaining 39.3 percent of nights in this period.

In March, 69.6 percent of the total number of nights was spent in the coastal region, 19.4 percent in the Capital City, 5.6 percent in the mountain region, and 5.4 percent in other tourist destinations in Montenegro.
