Rutte: Montenegro’s role in the region positive and active

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro has an active and positive role in the Western Balkans’ region, said Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte in a phone call with his Montenegrin counterpart Dusko Markovic.

According to the government’s press release, Markovic said that his call to Rutte represents continuation of a good political dialogue following the meeting of the two prime ministers at the EU-WB Summit in Sofia last May.

Markovic conveyed to Rutte Montenegrin ambitions and results achieved in the EU integration process, as well as the position and views of Montenegro on the situation in the region.

He thanked the Netherlands for its continuing support to Montenegro on its EU path.

“The meeting agreed that the bilateral relations are excellent, additionally enriched by the investment of Dutch Company Damen and the planned opening of the Embassy of Montenegro in the Netherlands”, the press release stated.

The press release adds that Rutte thanked for the exchange of opinion and emphasized the importance of further Montenegro’s progress in the EU integration process, as well as the reforms in key areas such as the rule of law.

He, as stated, stressed the active and positive role Montenegro plays in the Western Balkans.
