Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Social Democratic Party (SDP) warns that a long-term political instability will produce very negative effects on the economic situation in the country, saying that it will continue to insist on the economic reforms aimed at improving the living standard.
The SDP says in a press release that the reports on the state of affairs in Montenegro, published in the previous several months, show that all indicators related to the economic freedoms, lack of structural reforms, growth of corruption and absence of political readiness to address this problem are on a steep downward trajectory.
“Thanks to the actions of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and its coalition partners Montenegro’s ranking has declined by 24 points in the Heritage Foundation’s 2019 Index of Economic Freedom, and by eight points in the World Bank’s Doing Business list,” says the press release.
The SDP reminds that Montenegro’s ranking in the Corruption Perceptions Index of the Transparency International has declined by three points, while the Freedom House has announced negative trends for this year’s freedom in the world report.
“It is evident to which degree this is related to the DPS and its political methods from the part of the Transparency International’s report that says that concerns around political party financing and a lack of financial disclosure cast a shadow on the electoral results,” the SDP says.
