Opposition requests extraordinary Parliament session

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Social Democratic Party (SDP) filed on Tuesday the motion for holding an extraordinary Parliament session on 21 February, with regards to the Envelope Affair.

The initiative was backed by 28 opposition MPs, and thus the constitutional norms for calling the extraordinary session have been met.

The proposed conclusions state that the Parliament requests competent national authorities to investigate urgently, in the context of the Envelope Affair accusations, the allegations and the material evidence that Dusko Knezevic presented to the public, as well as to notify the Parliament as soon as possible.

“The Parliament calls in particular upon the prosecution authorities to continue with the investigation in this case in order to finally identify, in the further proceedings, those responsible for this crime”, the opposition’s conclusions state.

Reportedly, the Parliament notes that the latest events regarding the Envelope Affair, in which the top national officials are involved, has additionally deepened the mistrust in the election process and undoubtedly showed that the conditions for fair and free elections do not currently exist.
