New benches for Podgorica parks

Podgorica, (MINA) – The European Union (EU) in Montenegro has donated new benches for seven Podgorica city parks, on the occasion of the European Day of Parks, which was celebrated by “Zelenilo” in cooperation with the Capital City, the EU Delegation stated.

It is stated that seven Podgorica city parks received seven new benches that the EU Delegation in Montenegro and EU Info Center symbolically donated to Podgorica on this occasion.

Media Adviser in the EU Delegation Nadezda Dramicanin explained that the donation is a symbolical gift to the citizens of Podgorica, within the Month of Europe, which is celebrated during May.

She said that the Month of Europe is celebrated by many events for the citizens, in order to open discussion on various issues of importance for Montenegro in the EU accession process.

“One of those important issues is ecology and environmental protection. Therefore, I would like to call on the citizens to come to the park, enjoy the nature and see new benches that are a small gift for them. Also, I call on them to preserve the nature, parks and benches”, said Dramicanin in the press conference that took place in Karadjordjev park in Podgorica.

Deputy Podgorica Mayor Sladjana Vujacic announced that Podgorica will build new green areas.

The European Day of Park is celebrated in honor of the day when the first national parks in Europe were declared- 9 national parks in Sweden on 24 May 1909.  Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
