Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Prime Minister Dusko Markovic has said that, compared with the same period last year, the foreign direct investments (FDI) coming from NATO members increased by 118.8 percent or €273 million in the first six months.
Answering MPs’ questions, he said today that the number of tourists from the NATO members visiting Montenegro had increased by 25 percent or 130,000.
According to Markovic, this shows that the Government’s expectations were well-founded.
Markovic said that, in addition to safety guarantees, NATO membership had also created conditions for a faster economic growth.
“This confirms that partnership with the most powerful countries of today guarantees a favourable business and investment environment,” said Markovic.
He said that the Government expects to see long-term economic benefits and more investments, not only form NATO members but also from other countries.
