Moodys analysts in Montenegro

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – At a meeting with the analysts of Moody’s rating agency, Minister of Finance Darko Radunovic said that 2019 was an important year for Montenegro because of the work on structural reforms and because this would be a period of public debt decrease.

Radunovic informed Moody’s analysts, who came to a regular annual visit to Podgorica, about the results achieved last year, saying that the beginning of this year looked promising.

“The figures for January and February show that the budget revenues were 18.5 percent higher than in the same period last year and 6.3 percent higher than planned,” said Radunovic.

He reminded that the fiscal consolidation measures, which had been launched three years ago, produced positive results.

“This year is important because of the work on the structural reforms and because it is the year when our public debt will see a downward trajectory,” Radunovic said, adding that a strong investment cycle was under way in the field of energy, tourism, transport and infrastructure.

Moody’s representatives came to two-day visit to Montenegro in order to review the economic, fiscal and financial situation in the country, and collect data for the assessment of its credit rating.

They will meet representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the Central Bank (CBCG), banking sector, and international organizations. Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
