Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro is currently prepared to close two chapters in the EU accession talks and it will soon carry out all the required internal procedure for the closing of six more negotiation chapters, Minister of Justice Zoran Pazin has stated.
Pazin hosted in Podgorica on Monday Romanian Justice Minister Tudorel Toader, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro.
“Montenegro highly appreciates Romania’s long-standing friendship and counts on its support during the forthcoming Romanian presidency of the EU from January next year,” Pazin said.
He stressed that Montenegro’s priorities include opening of the two remaining chapters, on competition and environment, and speeding up the process of closing negotiations chapters.
“We believe that we are currently prepared to close two chapters and that we will soon carry out all the required internal procedures and become ready to close six more negotiation chapters,” Pazin remarked.
He stressed that ‘one does not live on the opening and closing of negotiation chapters’ and that the true purpose of the EU integration is to build institutions capable of securing equal rights and opportunities for all citizens and a reliable legal system for the business community.
“In that context, Pazin expressed appreciation for Romania’s expert assistance in several areas, which has contributed to strengthening the Montenegrin legal framework,” the press release stated.
