Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro will continue to meet the commitments from the EU accession talks and is ready to close certain chapters, Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljevic said at a meeting with Finnish Ambassador Prtti Ikonen.
According to a government press release, Drljevic informed the Ambassador of Montenegro’s progress in the EU accession talks, underlining that all the benchmarks for Chapter 8 – Competition have been fulfilled and that Montenegro is working to get approvals from all EU Member States for the opening of Chapter 27 – Environment.
He noted that Montenegro has done a huge amount work and that it now expects those efforts and results to be recognized.
“We are aware that advancements in chapters 23 and 24 will dictate the overall progress, which is why we are focused on the forthcoming Subcommittee for Justice, Freedom and Security, in which we will discuss past results with our colleagues form the European Commission,” Drljevic said.
