Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro takes a specific place and plays important role for the stability of the region, says the Proposal for the National Security Strategy, which will be considered by the Parliament’s Legislative Committee on Wednesday.
According to the document, the national security situation should also be considered in the regional context, because Montenegro belongs to the Balkan and the Mediterranean region.
“It is part of the region that experienced dynamic changes and a civil war in the recent past. Having in mind the historic heritage and the positive trends since the restoration of its independence, Montenegro takes a special place and plays an important role for the stability of the region,” the strategic document says.
Montenegro is said to share the strategic approach to the challenges, risks and threats to national security, as defined in NATO’s strategic documents.
The range of challenges, risks and threats is described as wide. “The region is still burdened by the past events and unresolved problems, which could cause destabilization in certain areas.”
