Podgorica, (MINA) – The Montenegrin police are contributing to the successful fight against cross-border crime in South East Europe, it was heard at a meeting between Director of the Police Administration Veselin Veljovic and Director General of the SELEC Center in Bucharest Snejana Maleeva.
According to a press release from the Police Administration, the meeting was an opportunity to discuss cooperation between the Montenegrin police and the SELEC Center, which has produced tangible results in combating organized cross-border crime.
Veljovic thanked the Center for the support provided to the Montenegrin police, in the form of information exchange and joint investigations.
He stressed that the police will remain a reliable partner for cooperation with the Center.
“This was recognized in the European Commission’s non-paper on the state of play in chapters 23 and 24, which takes note of the progress made in international police cooperation and the fight against organized crime,” Veljovic stated.
Maleeva said that the Montenegrin police enjoys the full support of the SELEC Center in implementing the activities of importance for the security of South East Europe.
She underlined the importance of the participation of the police in five joint SELEC investigations, while recalling Montenegro’s successful chairmanship of the SELEC Council in 2017.
