Montenegro committed to gender equality policy

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro, as a NATO ally, is strongly committed to NATO politics, among which is gender equality issue, said Foreign Minister Srdjan Darmanovic.

According to the press release from the Foreign Ministry, Darmanovic hosted Special NATO Representative for Women, Peace and Security Clare Hutchinson, who is paying a visit to Montenegro as a lecturer at the “Gavro Vukovic” summer School.

Darmanovic expressed satisfaction with Hutchinson’s arrival to this important forum.

“We are honored that Montenegrin Armed Forces Major Sanja Pejovic has been deployed in July last year to a position of gender issues advisor at the Supreme Allied Commander Europe at SHAPE”, said Darmnaovic.

Hutchinson praised Montenegro’s contribution to gender equality policy and emphasize that the state has a significant number of women in the defense sector.

“In terms of that, she said that Montenegro is an example of good practice that should be used in further promotion of qualified women at important positions within NATO”, the press release stated.
