Podgorica, Geneva, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Representatives of the Government of Montenegro and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Geneva.
The Memorandum was signed by the Director of the Intellectual Property Office of Montenegro, Valentina Radulovic Scepanovic, on behalf of the Government of Montenegro, and the WIPO Director, Francis Gurry.
“The Memorandum is a crown of an intensive and considerably enhanced cooperation between Montenegro and WIPO,” says a press release issued by the Intellectual Property Office.
Gurry reminded of the continuity of good relations between WIPO and Montenegro, expressing his support for the efforts of the Intellectual Property Office related to drafting a new national intellectual property strategy.
He said that the adoption of strategies was necessary in order to follow the trends and overcome the challenges in the field of intellectual property, which are increasingly present in all developed countries.
Radulovic Scepanovic said that the Memorandum would contribute to the provision of conditions for the development of innovations and raising awareness of the role and importance of intellectual property.
“The Memorandum will encourage an efficient use and commercialization of intellectual property for the purpose of creating better conditions for businesses and investors, and consequently for the overall economy in Montenegro,” the press release says.
