Interest expressed in closer cooperation

Bucharest, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Prime Ministers of Montenegro and Romania Dusko Markovic and Vasilica Viorica Dancila agreed at today’s meeting that the two countries were interested in establishing a closer cooperation, particularly in the field of agriculture, energy and tourism.

During Markovic’s official visit to Romania, they announced concrete steps in their economic cooperation, including a meeting of the mixed commission of the two countries and the organisation of an economic forum that would bring together their business communities.

According to a press release issued by the Government’s Public Relations Service, agriculture, energy and tourism have been recognised as concrete areas of cooperation, while direct cooperation within NATO has been agreed.

The two officials concluded that Montenegro and Romania had open and friendly relations and shared NATO partnership, and that they were committed to strengthening their economic cooperation.

They agreed that a successful finalization of the European integration process for Montenegro and further European integration of other Western Balkan countries provided the best framework for stability of that part of Europe.
