Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism Pavle Radulovic has said that Montenegro saw a total of 2.1 million tourist arrivals in the first ten months, 100,000 more than last year, adding that historical results were achieved in that field.
“This is over €300,000 more than in 2016,” Radulovic said in Zabljak, presenting the results achieved by his Ministry.
Talking about the Government’s results achieved since the beginning of its term, he expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the field of spatial planning and environmental protection, adding that historical results had been achieved in the tourism sector.
“This year, tourists spent over 12.5 million nights in Montenegro until the end of October, 550,000 more than last year. Moreover, for the first time in their history, Montenegrin hotels welcomed over 1 million tourists in a single year,” said Radulovic.
He expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the goal had been achieved to have over 50 percent of the total number of beds in the four- and five-star category.
Radulovic said that 59 hotels, with almost 4,000 beds in total, had been opened in the last two years, adding that Montenegro currently had 19 five-star hotels with a total of 2,830 beds, up from only nine hotels of this category in 2016.
