Higher minimum wages and pensions requested

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Confederation of Trade Unions of Montenegro (SSCG) has requested higher minimum wages and pensions, more jobs and youth employment, safe working environment, adequately paid work, and observance of the Collective Agreements and the Labour Law.

In its May Day Declaration, the SSCG demands a more responsible attitude of the inspection authorities, stronger social dialogue, urgent adoption of the Labour Law and amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance Law, extension of the General Collective Agreement and observance of all collective agreements, eradication of informal labour and strengthening of bipartite and tripartite dialogue.

According to a press release issued by the SSCG, the requests related to the protection workers’ rights and improvement of their position remain the same in the year of the 100th anniversary of the International Labour Organization.

The SSCG believes that there are not too many objective reasons to celebrate the International Workers’ Day because of the high unemployment rate, low economic, social and living standard, low salaries and pensions.

The SSCG congratulates the International Workers’ Day to all citizens, saying that it will continue to fight for better position of all working people, as well as for successful youth and a dignified old age. Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
