Government ready to protect diplomatic representations

Podgorica, (MINA) – The government and the institutions are ready to protect diplomatic representations, said Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic, stating that the case of the attempted force entry in the US Embassy in Podgorica is an isolated incident.

A person broke into the US Embassy’s yard on Friday, and was later handed over to the Montenegrin police.

As a guest of the Voice of America, Boskovic said that it was an isolated incident.

“You know that last year Montenegro experienced the significant influx of migrants in comparison to 2017 and that this trend continues this year”, said Boskovic.

“I repeat that the Government and the institutions are ready to protect our diplomatic representations and it will stay so in the future”, said Boskovic.

According to him, Montenegro contributes to global peace, both under NATO missions and under EU and UN missions.

Boskovic added that during this year Montenegro will become a part of the mission in Iraq.

Asked if the possible change of borders would have impact on security in the Balkans, Boskovic responded that it is an unstable area, and that thus it should be considered that change of borders could only cause more instability.

Asked if he believed that NATO is stable, he said that the Alliance in on very firm legs, and that it proves it daily, by its presence in various territories.
