Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Ministry of Finance has said that strong investment activities, accompanied by a gradual growth of export, will be a strategic and development goal Montenegro would focus on in a period between 2019 and 2021, adding that this required a sustainable and inclusive development of the economy.
“The focus will be placed on the strong investment activity, combined with a gradual increase in exports, service export in particular, and a consolidation of public finance based on the Government’s Fiscal Strategy until 2020,” said the Ministry, which hosted a round table during the public consultations on a draft Economic Reform Programme for a period until 2021.
According to a press release, the starting point of the draft programme is a stainable and inclusive growth as the strategic and development goal, which will contribute to bridging the gap between the economic development in Montenegro and an average level of development in the EU.
The State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Nina Vujosevic, said at the round table that the Economic Reform Programme included an overview of macroeconomic and fiscal framework, and the agenda of structural reforms outlining the policies in eight different reform areas.
She said that the drafters had taken into consideration the strategic priorities of Montenegro and the recommendations on macro-fiscal framework and structural reforms given at a joint meeting held within the framework of the ministerial dialogue, held in Brussels last May.
Vujosevic said that the Ministry had received technical assistance in the drafting process, adding that the European Commission provided a long-term support in the preparation the Economic Reform Programme.
